Prior to entering law, Mark was publisher of Film Music Magazine, a leading trade magazine for the film and television music industry, and taught courses in music royalties and music business at the Film Music Institute in the United States. He had also worked as a management consultant at Coopers & Lybrand and BDO Seidman in Houston and Los Angeles, and had a previous career as a touring jazz pianist throughout the United States.
Mark acquired his BBA from the University of Houston in Texas, United States and his law degree from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. He is also the managing director of Northam Lawyers and a New South Wales Justice of the Peace.
Mark's specialised practice area is immigration law, including complex family and partner visas, waivers, dealing with refusals and cancellations, and tribunal and federal court appeals. He also advises on family law matters.
With a passion in teaching, in addition to practising law, Mark teaches professional education courses for immigration lawyers and migration agents through Migration Law Training, a professional education firm he founded, and is a co-host of The Migration Show, a podcast for immigration professionals. He has published a wide variety of articles on immigration regulations including articles published by LexisNexis and others. With a warm personality and a can-do attitude, Mark is leading lawyer in the immigration law profession, who has helped many clients obtain a visa solution as well as many immigration professionals advance their skills and knowledge in immigration law.
Mark has his own boutique firm Northam Lawyers and is a Consultant to TTRAN LAW. He is dedicated to migration advocacy. He represents clients at the AAT and the Courts in their visa matters.
Mark lives with his family in a leafy and neighbourly Upper North Shore suburb of Sydney.
